Rumours

Google Pixel 4

The Pixel line has become a reliable tentpole in the smartphone release calendar. Offering a suite of features with an almost unmatched level of software polish, the handsets have done a lot to earn the adoration of the tech community at large.

That isn’t to say that the competition is resting however, and Google in 2019 really needs to keep on its feet if the Pixel line is to meet expectations with its next iteration, the Pixel 4.

The pixel 4 is expected to arrive in September or October this year, and while we’re waiting for more concrete info to surface, concept designs of the two devices have just surfaced on the Concept Creator YouTube channel.

We’ve seen all sorts of concept designs published on that YouTube channel in the last couple of years, and this time around the source tried to envision the Pixel 4. The source notes that these two concepts are “somewhat based on leaks”, so it picked up some design elements from leaks we’ve seen, but we didn’t really see all that many leaks thus far, at least not legit ones, the Pixel 4 series is still is a huge mystery.

Pricing-wise, the Pixels have been climbing for years now. With the extra features now included and the general emphasis on a premium fit and finish, the Pixel 3 – or at least the XL model – may be the first of the line to break the $1,000/£1,000 mark.

Do note that the source is showing two different concepts in the provided video, but does not note which one is the Pixel 4 and which is the Pixel 4 XL. These concept Pixel 4 devices seem to borrow design elements from the Pixel 3 series, at least as far as the back side is concerned, as both of them sport that glass strip in the upper portion of its back side.

On the bottom of the two concepts lies a Type-C USB port, along with a microphone, SIM card tray, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Some of you may wonder where are the devices’ speakers, well, it seems like the designer opted to include them on the front, they’re located right below and above the display.

The power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons are located on the right-hand side of both concepts, while a dedicated camera button is also placed on that side, which is quite surprising.

These two concept designs are quite interesting, that’s for sure, but chances are that the real Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will look considerably different. The two devices probably will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, while a dedicated camera button probably won’t be a part of the package either.

At this stage, it is highly probable that the Google Pixel 4 is still in the latter stages of development and is yet to enter production. As such, any information gleaned from tipsters must be taken with an appropriately large measure of salt.
