Finally. After years of waiting, Apple has revealed its new Mac Pro, abandoning the small cylindrical form factor for a beastly, more traditional and highly modular tower. But just because it’s a tower doesn’t mean it’s boring.
The new Mac Pro features a stainless steel frame with an easily removable cover, providing 360-degree access to internal components. Simply turn a handle, and you can pull off the chassis easily.
hose components include up to:
A 28-core Intel Xeon (powered by up to 300 watts)
1.5 terabytes of RAM (12 DIMM slots)
8 PCIe slots (64 lanes)
1400 Watt Power Supply
Building on its promise of expandability, the device comes with eight PCI slots. The computer can support up to four Radeon Vega II GPUs, which Apple claims provide the most powerful graphics performance in the world.
The Mac Pro has wheels! And Apple is even making its own display to go along with it, a 32-inch LCD display that Apple is calling a 6K Retina display with HDR and 6,016 x 3,384 resolution.
The base Mac Pro will include an eight-core Xeon CPU, 32GB of memory, a 256GB SSD and the Radeon Pro 580X graphics card and will start at $5,999. It’ll ship this fall.
