The Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch is an external storage drive that delivers speeds up to twice as fast as the Samsung T5 (review), and for the very first time, features a built-in fingerprint sensor for added security.
The new T7 Touch features highly respectable read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds of 1000 MB/s while retaining the portable, bus-powered form factor that has made Samsung’s lineup of drives so popular among consumers.
“Consumers who are constantly on the go between work, play and passion projects want to be able to securely carry their content with them,” said Mike Mang, vice president of Samsung’s Brand Product Biz Team.
In addition to the built-in fingerprint scanner, the T7 Touch includes password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption. It comes in a sleek titanium metal case, in black or silver, weighs just 58 grams. It also has a “Motion LED” so users can check the status of the device with a glance.
The Samsung T7 Touch will be available in storage capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB. The 500 GB version starts at $129.99, while the 1 TB and 2 TB editions will command $229.99 and $399.99 respectively. The T7 Touch will be available beginning this month in over 30 countries.
