Renders of Motorola’s upcoming Razr 2019 folding phone leaks out

Samsung stumbled out of the gate in a major way with its first foldable smartphone. The Galaxy Fold was supposed to arrive on April 26 but days before the big launch, Samsung announced the device had been delayed indefinitely in response to an alarming number of defective review units.

This has left the door wide open for someone else to jumpstart the foldable era and that someone may very well be Motorola.

The company that brought us the original Razr is rumored to be working on a modern version of that same handset complete with folding display.

The leaker has, according to Slashleaks, a reasonably reputation for accuracy. The images reveal the device will retain the Razr’s iconic chin, but will otherwise have a completely flat screen with a notch at the top end. It appears the device will ship in an intricate presentation box, which of course also suggests that the handset is currently close to production.

The device is codenamed “Voyager” and will have a 6.2-inch 876×2142 resolution display, likely OLED given its foldable nature. The secondary display will have a resolution of 600×800. The device will come in three colors- white, black, and gold.

Going by the leaked renders, unsurprisingly the device will lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, and will instead ship with USB-C headphones and a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle.

We earlier reported that the device will cost around $1,500 but there’s no hard evidence confirming the same.
