Microsoft delayed its new Surface Earbuds from a 2019 release to spring 2020 in November. The user manual for the earbuds was spotted on the FCC’s website. That indicates the wireless earbuds could be coming out soon.
What’s interesting in the manual are the details about the swipe gestures for the big circular touch pads on the Surface Earbuds:
The guide additionally says that the Floor Earbuds can have eight hours of music playback, the charging case can maintain as much as 16 hours of battery life, and the case will cost over USB-C.
Microsoft is pitching the Surface Earbuds more as a productivity device than an amazing soundscape. Office 365 (now re-branded Microsoft 365) is baked-in to allow users to manage their Outlook calendars, reply to emails, and control Powerpoint presentations from just earbuds alone. That said, the $249 sticker price may be a deterrent to those who just want an affordable pair of earbuds.
